The Royal Gorge Bridge

Cotopaxi Day 3

We started out our day by watching the rafters coming by our RV. We saw our guide from yesterday Blake come by. The Arkansas River Tours have people from a church camp every Thursday come out to raft with them. We relaxed and were getting ready to go to the Five Points Rapids, a cat 5 rapid. The Five Point Rapids is supposed to be a cat 3 rapid, but since the water is so high it is a cat 5 rapid. We also went up to the highest suspension bridge in North America. We walked over the bridge with Tilley. My mom and I went to a movie about the park and the bridge. It talked about the 2013 wildfire. The whole park was in shambles and Debreu except the bridge. The bridge was a little damaged but it is still standing. Some of the bridge pieces were burned in the fire. They now have a new entrance that has a legacy wall. The Legacy Wall is part of the wall that has the wood that was on the bridge when the wildfire occurred. The bridge also goes over the Royal Gorge. After we watched the movie, we went over to the gondola with my dad and Tilley. They did have a sign that said that no dogs were allowed, but the person at the front said that it was ok to have Tilley ride with us. When we got back to the KOA, my mom and I went to the pool. I swam around the pool while my mom was exercising. Back at the campsite we made Hobo dinners. Hobo dinners are dinners that you make and you cook it in a campfire. You can put anything in your Hobo Dinner. Tonight was also the first night we had storms in our area on this trip. So tomorrow we will be going off to the state of South Dakota!
